News about the cancellation of the Google Pixel Tablet 2 project emerged last month. Now, some details about the features of this device, which is said to have been cancelled, have been seen. This information sheds light on the technical features of a device that will not be released.
Pixel Tablet 2 was planned to come with a 10.95-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 2,560 × 1,600 and supporting a 120 Hz refresh rate. The screen would offer 550 nits peak brightness. The tablet, which was stated to be powered by the Tensor G4 processor, would use a slightly lower performance version of the Pixel 9a. It was also planned to release a 5G supported version of the device.
It is also stated that 5G connection is planned to be provided with the Exynos Modem 5400 used in Pixel 9 smartphones. However, it was also among the information that the device would not offer satellite communication support. The 5G version was expected to have GPS feature.
On the camera side, the front camera of the device would be increased from 8 MP to 10 MP. On the rear camera, an 11 MP sensor with autofocus would be used instead of the 8 MP fixed focus sensor. This feature would take the Pixel Tablet 2 a significant step forward over the original model. However, although it had the same front camera as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the device would not support the unlock feature with facial recognition.
It was claimed that the Pixel Tablet 2 would support DisplayPort output up to 4K and come with a keyboard and stylus designed by Google. Despite all these features, the cancellation of the device means that these hardware will not be implemented.
The name Google Pixel Tablet 2 may appear again in the future
Although Google seems to have given up on the Pixel Tablet 2 project, it may use this name with a different device in the future. Although there is no clear information yet about the company’s future plans, it is worth remembering that the cancellation of such projects is a common situation in the technology world.
