In 2021, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg at the Facebook Connect event, GTA: San Andreas announced the VR version of his game and created a trend. However, after three years, this project was unfortunately shelved. Here’s why…
Meta has suspended the VR version of GTA: San Andreas indefinitely!
On Meta Quest VR’s official YouTube channel, in response to a user’s question about the status of the VR version, Meta Quest replied: “The VR version of GTA: San Andreas has been suspended indefinitely, we are currently focusing on other projects” he replied. This statement made the future of this long-awaited project uncertain.
According to the statement made by Meta, the company is currently focused on other projects and work on the GTA: San Andreas VR version has been suspended. Although this offers a glimmer of hope that there may be other collaborations with Rockstar in the future, for now this project has gone down in history as a huge disappointment.
In fact, this project, announced in 2021, was based on the “Definitive Edition” version of the GTA trilogy. However, this version of the trilogy received critical acclaim among gamers; Quality issues and high pricing severely affected the game’s popularity. As a result, the developer of this version Grove Street Games team disbanded, and GTA’s mobile and VR versions also suffered delays.
The suspension of the VR version of GTA: San Andreas may have disappointed many waiting gamers and VR enthusiasts. When this project will be revisited or whether it will be canceled completely remains a big question mark.
So, what do you think about this situation? If the VR version of GTA: San Andreas was realized, what innovations would it bring to the game world? What do you think of Meta’s decision? You can write your opinions in the comments section below.
