It all started in China when a man named Lu bought four phones from an e-commerce platform. He bought the phones and started using them. When he wanted to return it, he wanted to exercise his right to unconditional return within seven days. But the refund request was rejected by the e-commerce platform.

Lu did not give up and sold the phones on the second-hand platform at a lower price and took the platform to court to compensate for his losses. “I made a loss, the platform should pay for this loss!” he said. Things did not go as expected for the person who thought he would win the court.

The details revealed in court were shocking. Lu, who was trying to return the phones, in six months from this platform 209 orders created. 106 of these are smartphones and full 77 of them were returned. That’s why the e-commerce platform rejected the return requests for the last four phones.

The court stated that Lu abused this right because it was against the principle of honesty and that the right to extradition should not be abused in this way. So the court rejected Lu’s case in the decision.

E-commerce platforms in Turkey generally grant an unconditional right of return within 14 days. The right of return, which is available in almost all countries, is a good service, but it may not be wise to overuse it.
