Microsoft makes Skype ad-free with the new update it will offer to its users on all platforms. This update also includes improved AI rendering tools for Windows and macOS users, and the ability for iOS users to automatically log in to Skype if they are already signed in to other Microsoft applications.
“Our latest update removes ads from all Skype channels and platforms, providing a smoother, simpler and more enjoyable user experience,” said Irene Namuganyi, Skype product manager.
Removing ads in Skype means you will no longer see ads in the main chat interface or channels section. Microsoft stated that they listened to feedback about ads on Skype and decided to remove advertising distractions so users can focus on their conversations. This step aims to make the Skype experience cleaner and more user-friendly.
Skype’s current news section will remain, along with the news feed powered by MSN. However, most Skype users are known to ignore this tab, and users who want to disable this feature completely, Settings > Appearance You can perform this operation from the tab.
In addition to removing ads from Skype, Microsoft is improving AI-based rendering features in the app on Windows and macOS. Users will soon be able to quickly access the AI image generator within chat windows, and the created AI images can be expanded by clicking on them. Microsoft has also fixed some user interface elements, making the renderer more compatible with Apple’s macOS design.
Additionally, Microsoft is bringing OneAuth integration to Skype for iOS, so if you’re using another Microsoft app, you’ll be able to sign in to the app automatically. For users who have problems sending photos or videos over 5G, this error will also be corrected with the new update. The update is expected to be available in the coming days.
