The Resident Evil series has attracted great attention in recent years as Capcom has revived its old games. Following the Resident Evil 4 remake released in 2023, it has been reported that remakes of 2000’s CODE: Veronica and 2002’s Resident Evil Zero are now being worked on.
Details about the new Resident Evil remakes
Resident Evil fans have been waiting for the remake of CODE: Veronica for a long time. The game, released for Sega Dreamcast in 2000, is about the adventures of Claire Redfield, the main character of RE2. CODE: Veronica is considered by many fans to be a true sequel to the second game in the series. GameIt was re-released in a remastered version for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.
Resident Evil Zero, on the other hand, is a prequel to the original Resident Evil and follows STARS member Rebecca Chambers. The game contains story elements that tie directly to the events taking place at Spencer Mansion. However, the game divides RE fans into two, as some see it as the most boring game in the series.
Resident Evil fans have also speculated about remakes of other games in the series. Due to Resident Evil 5’s controversial past and the problems it contains, Capcom is not expected to remake this game.
Likewise, while RE6 had mechanical problems, RE5’s character and story problems have deeper roots. Therefore, Capcom’s focus on CODE: Veronica and Zero seems to make strategic sense.
The new remakes of the Resident Evil series will be a source of great excitement for both old players with nostalgic memories and newcomers to the series. What are you thinking? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
