This feature claimed for the Galaxy S26 may make you forget the existence of the iPhone

As a technology giant working on the 2nm process process, Samsung aims to surpass its rival TSMC in this field. The South Korean company has received its first 2nm chip production order from the Japan-based company Preferred Networks (PFN).

Samsung’s 2nm project is carried out under the code name “Tethys” and it is planned to release a product under the Exynos brand as a result of this project. The company is taking serious steps to compete with Qualcomm and MediaTek. However, it still needs Qualcomm to make its foldable device lineup meet power efficiency requirements.

The 2nm production project called “Tethys” is expected to be ready for mass production by 2025, and it is thought that this project may be connected to Exynos 2600. Exynos 2600 is planned to be used in the Galaxy S26 series. Samsung had previously announced that it would begin mass production of 2nm chips in 2025.

The Galaxy S23 series, released last year, was powered only by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. This year, Samsung returned to its dual-platform strategy by offering the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus models with Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips in different regions. However, the Galaxy S24 Ultra model has been kept exclusive to Qualcomm, powered by the last-generation Snapdragon flagship.

There are rumors that the next generation Exynos 2500 chip provides efficiency improvements and that this chip will be used in the Galaxy S26 series. However, it is not yet clear in which regions the flagship models with Exynos processors will be available. Still, it seems like Samsung will want to use Exynos chips as much as possible if it can reduce the performance gap. On the other hand, TSMC is also working on 2nm chips and plans to start mass production of these chips in 2025.
