Leaks on the iCloud side in recent months have victimized many users. After this vulnerability, the deleted data came to light again and unwanted tensions occurred between users. With a sudden security update released by Apple today, the issue of iCloud came to the fore again. So is iCloud safe?
iOS/iPadOS 17.6.1 released for improved data protection in iCloud
With the iOS 16.2 update, the Advanced Data Protection feature was announced by Apple. Thanks to this feature, almost all iCloud features are hidden with end-to-end protection and security is provided to Apple’s cloud services. However, it seems that an unexpected and serious vulnerability has occurred in the iOS 17.6 update.
While it has not yet been officially announced what the discovered vulnerability is, only the following description was used in the update notes:
This update contains important bug fixes and addresses an issue that prevented Enhanced Data Protection from being enabled or disabled.
In addition to the iOS 17.6.1 update, macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 and macOS Ventura 13.6.9 updates were also released with the same fix. While it is unknown whether another security issue has been fixed, Apple only refers to this as an Advanced Data Protection issue.
If you are using an iPhone with iOS 17.6, or a Mac computer or iPad with the same version, it is recommended that you update your devices immediately. The iOS 18 update prepared by Apple will be announced immediately after the iPhone 16 series. So what do you think about this issue? You can share your thoughts in the comments.
